Can an inflamed liver cause gastritis and gerds? What causes an inflamed liver in a 10 yr old who eats normal foods? How is an inflamed liver treated?

Hard to know: The most common cause of liver inflammation in children is viral hepatitis. Although some children are vaccinated for hepatitis b and hepatitis a, there are other types of viruses which can cause inflammation also. Check with your doctor for more information. Most viral hepatitis will resolve on its own. If your child is vomiting frequently, have him checked by the doctor. ...Read more

Can very bad anxiety cause GERD symptoms to get worse or act up. I ate food that norm never bothers me had mild anx attack n guts r killin me.

DX w/IBS, GERD, gastritis. The only time my stomach feels normal is if it's empty. Food/drinks & exercise cause reflux or ULQ pain. Is this IBS typical?

Possible.: It's hard to say what's typical for IBS since it becomes a diagnosis when we've excluded all other things. This may be what is typical for IBS for you, but not for another individual. It certainly falls within the spectrum of symptoms for IBS. If the symptoms are getting worse however, it's time to go back to your gastroenterologist. ...Read more

Can GERD cause lightheaded feeling and swollen glands? I am a 41 year old female, have a hiatal hernia. Feeling like food is stuck in chest as well.

Can GERD cause lightheaded feeling and swollen glands? I am a 41 year old female, have a hiatal hernia. Feeling like food is stuck in chest as well.

Unlikely: I would see a doctor about the swollen glands and lightheadedness. Unlikely related to hh. Hiatal hernia and acid reflux could cause the esophagus to spasm or even develop scar tissue and narrowing. This would cause the feeling of food sticking or catching. I would see your doctor about getting a test to check your esophagus. If not already taking acid medication twice a day, recommend doing so. ...Read more

Was taking nexium for 5 weeks for silent gerd. Since stopping, I've had very bad stomach pain immediately after eating citric foods like cooked tomatoes. Feels like s burning type feeling right away then stops. Never had this before nexium. Cause?

Acidity: It is likely that you experienced acid rebound after discontinuing the nexium which had shut off your stomachs acid production. You could temporarily try taking zantac or pepcid which shuts off acid more quickly than nexium and then taper off the medication. Avoid caffeine, spicy and greasy foods as well. ...Read more

Yes: To put in bluntly, you are a prime candidate to get throat cancer. A constant irritation to your throat from stomach acid combined with smoking can transform that irritated tissue into cancer cells. The answer is quite simple: stop smoking, change to a healthy lifestyle, exercise, lose weight if you are overweight, see your doctor regularly. ...Read more
