Is there a link between pancreatitis and food color additives?

No: It takes only a moment to make something up and put it on the internet. I can't think of a mechanism and for once I couldn't even find this obviously-phony claim on the internet. Simple chemicals that your children can play with dying Easter eggs aren't going to roast you pancreas. ...Read more

I have pancreatitis caused by medication (prednisone 50mg) I would like to know what foods I can't eat and what foods I should eat. Thanks?

Protein: The pancreas is a large gland in your upper abdomen, behind your intestine and stomach, which produces enzymes to digest foods, particularly carbohydrate and fats. The two main enzymes are amylase and lipase, and levels of these two chemicals can be measured in your blood when you have pancreatitis. So to your question, a high protein diet may be the best choice when your pancreatitis is active. ...Read more

Abt 2 weeks w/o nutr: Depending on how healthy u were b4 d onset of pancreatitis (& how much u were eating), u r approaching d point where TPN (total parenteral nutrition, or feeding thru an IV) is attempted. If u r vomiting all foodstuff, u may need a gastric (stomach) tube but not 4 feeding (that will cause u to vomit as well). I am 19 yrs i have chronic pancreatitis(idiopathic), i want to increase my weight any advice for exercise.i am having fat free food no animal proteins?

Will be difficult.: Most ppl w/ CIP become thin. To increase weight, you need 2 increase caloric (food) intake. I normally recommend exercise & increasing protein intake. However, ur diet & pancreas preclude this. There must be some (vegetable?) proteins that you can consume. I would have you coordinate with a nutritionist who is experienced with your condition. Tell them ur problem & ask them how to gain wt safely. ...Read more

More testing: An anti-nuclear antibody wouldn't be high on my list, but it might be time to check you for one of the genetic syndromes (trypsinogen mutation, cystic fibrosis variant) known to cause this. "Magic" food supplements won't help you. Hoping you can find the cause of this often very troublesome situation. ...Read more

Chronic pancreatitis what part of CP causes my belly to swell up only after eating small quantities of food?

Check with G.I. Dr.: One can check with the G.I. Doctor to see if there is some delayed stomach emptying, either related or not, to the pancreatitis. 2months ago my pancreatict duct was 6mm and dilated now it is 2.6 does it mean my chronic pancreatitis is cured age is 19 i had creon after food daily?

Wow...: Were you told the cause of your pancreatitis? If known, you should know. The shrinking duct is a good sign but not the only sign of healing, which could take a while. And a "chronic" (your word) condition is usually not cured (or it wouldn't be chronic) but usually managed. Be dutiful in managing this. The pancreas can be a nasty brute if you don't take good care of it! ...Read more

Can someone gets a prescription for boost (nutrition drink) and is medical Marijuana prescribed for chronic pancreatitis?

Chronic pancreatitis: If it's medically indicated a prescription can be written for nutritional supplemental drinks. Not all insurances will cover as it is available "OTC". As far as the chronic pancreatitis - the only literature I am aware of have found marijuana as a cause for recurrent pancreatitis so I highly doubt it's being used as a treatment (unless as marinol for appetite issues). ...Read more

For almost a yr I have epigastric and ULQ pain that wraps around to my back. This worsens if I drink alcohol or eat oily foods. Is this pancreatitis?

It may well be: the fact that fatty foods increases these symptoms may indicate that the primary problem is gallstones, and both of these problems - pancreatitis and gallstones - may also be worsened by alcohol. Pancreatitis generally occurs only with higher levels of alcohol consumption. Please talk to your doctor ASAP about your alcohol use and these symptoms, and strongly consider cessation! Chronic pancreatitis, 5 yr. Healthy food (salad, beans) painful. Juicing okay? Focus on wght loss & good A1c (5.7). No alch, no gallst, ERCP cause

Juicing ok, but...: Juicing was a mainstay of nutrition for me when I was recovering from pancreatitis. Anytime my pancreas flares is, I return to it. Unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done with pancreatitis other than resting the organ. Be sure to get protein also through small amount of lowfat foods such as beans or tofu or a whey protein drink or shake. ...Read more
