Abt 2 weeks w/o nutr: Depending on how healthy u were b4 d onset of pancreatitis (& how much u were eating), u r approaching d point where TPN (total parenteral nutrition, or feeding thru an IV) is attempted. If u r vomiting all foodstuff, u may need a gastric (stomach) tube but not 4 feeding (that will cause u to vomit as well). Will be difficult.: Most ppl w/ CIP become thin. To increase weight, you need 2 increase caloric (food) intake. I normally recommend exercise & increasing protein intake. However, ur diet & pancreas preclude this. There must be some (vegetable?) proteins that you can consume. I would have you coordinate with a nutritionist who is experienced with your condition. Yes. Pseudocysts can: Recur. Even without recurrence of pseudocysts one can have pain from chronic pancreatitis. Wow...: Were you told the cause of your pancreatitis? If known, you should know. The shrinking duct is a good sign but not the only sign of healing, which could take a while. And a "chronic" (your word) condition is usually not cured (or it wouldn't be chronic) but usually managed. Be dutiful in managing this. Chronic pancreatitis: If it's medically indicated a prescription can be written for nutritional supplemental drinks. Not all insurances will cover as it is available "OTC". As far as the chronic pancreatitis - the only literature I am aware of have found marijuana as a cause for recurrent pancreatitis so I highly doubt it's being used as a treatment (unless as marinol for appetite issues). ...Read more

It may well be: the fact that fatty foods increases these symptoms may indicate that the primary problem is gallstones, and both of these problems - pancreatitis and gallstones - may also be worsened by alcohol. Pancreatitis generally occurs only with higher levels of alcohol consumption. Please talk to your doctor ASAP about your alcohol use and these symptoms, and strongly consider cessation! Juicing ok, but...: Juicing was a mainstay of nutrition for me when I was recovering from pancreatitis. Anytime my pancreas flares is, I return to it. Unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done with pancreatitis other than resting the organ.
