I found a medical study showing that L theanine was beneficial in helping the quantity and quality of sleep in children with ADHD. Many children with ADHD have sleep disturbance. Lack of good sleep can cause worsening of the inattention and hyperactivity. I would follow the guidelines listed in this study for safety.

Did research on nootropics and found out about l theanine and it was said that it should have calming affects on u. But I feel nothing on 200mg?
Hmmm....: If there are any good research studies comparing patients on a "brain-enhancing" substance vs. Patients on a placebo, that show any real-life brain improvements (not outweighed by the substance's unknown or known side effects), then such a substance might be worthy of consideration. If no good human studies are done, then sales pitches and testimonials have nothing to stand on. ...Read more
Any interaction between 200 mg of L-Theanine and Bystolic? I take 2.5 mg Bystolic and 100 mg L-Theanine, with no issues. Would 200 mg be too much?
GRAS up to 250 mg: 1st, L-Theanine (a glutamine derivative found in tea & fungi) is classified as GRAS- Generally Regarded As Safe- by the FDA. Is it ok to take elevil and theanine serene together? Is it ok to take elevil, theanine serene and melatonin together?
Small risk: Taking the Elavil (amitriptyline) and melatonin leads to a small but measurable chance for what is called the Serotonin Syndrome. If not that then, there is the chance that those 2 together can make you sleepier or drowsy. I've never had a patient suffer from that while on that combo but to be on the extra safe side I believe it's good to heed the warnings. Elavil (amitriptyline) and threonine/serine are safe. ...Read more
What is your opinion on kava kava for anxiety? L-theanine has been helpful but I've heard mixed things about kava kava. What is proper dosage?
L Theanine and caffeine together is really good as lt reduces a lot of the negative effects of caffeine. Do I need to take lt together for it to work?
Possibly: There is some information available that by combining these two chemicals the L theanine may reduce the anxiety and vasoconstriction (temporarily making blood vessels smaller resulting in hypertension for example) associated with caffeine. My suggestion would be not to take caffeine and then you do not have to worry about the negative effects of the chemical. Good luck ...Read more
