What foods are low in potasium? My last blood test last friday, my potassium was really high.

HIgh potassium level: Did a doctor order your blood test? Did you speak to him? Perhaps you need to see a neprhologist to see what is causing your high potassiumn (k) level in your blood. If you have normal kidney function, your k would not be elevated. Please see a nephrologist to have an examination and take some blood work. Serum potassium 3.8, been eating lots of bananas and potassium rich food. Why is it on low normal? If I quit this diet, will it drop?

Serum potassium 3.8, been eating lots of bananas and potassium rich food. Why is it on low normal? If I quit this diet, will it drop?

K regulation: Body very tightly regulates levels of sodium and potassium which affect nerve conduction and heart beat. Don't worry so much about the actual numbers. That's what your kidneys are doing every second. If you eat too much potassium your kidneys will just pee it out, too little, and it will tightly hold on to it. Worry about other things in your life, not your K levels. ...Read more

I have acid reflux and as a result poor diet and i feel like i'm low on potassium. How to supplement/foods to eat to raise it?

Low potassium from poor diet. Corrected with high pot. foods and dr said im ok. Last test 5.0. Can it get too high from food, should i eat less of it?

Very difficult: if your kidney function is normal it is difficult to "overdose" on potassium because your kidneys excrete the excess. What could be the cause of chronic dehydration with slightly low potassium and sodium? I drink 90oz of water a day and put salt on almost all my food.

Fluid balance: The explanation may be complex. Albuterol in high doses can cause low blood potassium. Otherwise, if you are drinking over 90 oz fluid per day and adding salt, and are still appearing dehydrated to your practitioner, then you must be losing fluid and some Na and K from your body somewhere. Possibilities are GI, skin, or kidneys. Some kidney dz cause just that: fluid loss, Na loss, and K loss. ...Read more
