Probably food: If you want to determine if red stuff in your stool is blood or food, when you use toilet paper to clean yourself, blood will stain the paper red, while food will not stain, but remain whole on the paper. Also, blood will usually make the commode water reddish like food coloring in water, while food in stool will not run like that. Hard to see blood in: Blood is often difficult to see when it is in small amounts /mixed with stools. The commonest cause of symptoms like you have is acid reflux(one/ of 5 people have it). Usually it causes lots of burps and regurgitation of acid/food in the throat/ mouth. A short trial of an antacid like Pepcid at bed time daily might help clarify the cause.
