Depends on how...: Depends on how long one's luteal phase is. If the luteal phase is 14 days (from ovulation to just before the period begins), then the follicular phase is 14 days also. If the luteal phase is 2 days longer, the follicular phase is then 2 days shorter, etc., etc.... A normal luteal phase can be 10-16 days long among different women, but tends to stay the same number of days in an individual woman. ...Read more
What is the cause of long follicular phase (26 days) but normal luteal? What problems could it cause or hide? Solution?
What are your goals?: The follicular phase varies from person to person. The luteal phase is consistently about 14 days. Instead of thinking about these phases determine your goals. If your goal is cycle regulation then birth control methods can help. If your goal is pregnancy then a home ovulation kit would help. You would expect to ovulate 14 days before your next anticipated period. ...Read more

Keep body weigh down: Although premature death of the dominant follicle followed by replacement or follicular suppression are possible causes, the most common reason for long follicular phases in women is prolongation of the time from recruitment to emergence of the dominant follicle. This is most commonly seen in PCOS. You are ovulating and menstruating, so that is good. There is not much for you to do. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What causes a follicular phase E2 level in the ovulation phase, or even luteal phase? proges is also low for the phase. how to treat please? not on BC
The ovary: Simplistically: Estrogen (E2) is produced during the follicular phase from the ovary in response to another hormone called FSH(follicle stimulating hormone). At mid cycle, ovulation occurs(now in the luteal phase)and progesterone starts to rise, and typically peaks midluteal phase. Could be: If your periods are regular and you don't have the other signs and symptoms of PCOS, these are probably normal functional cysts. Several eggs begin to develop each month. One becomes the dominant follicle and that is the one that goes on to ovulate. The others just atrophy and go away.
