Masks anemia only: High folate (folic acid) can mask megaloblastic anemia caused by B12 deficiency but does not affect B12 levels. How can one tell the difference between low b12 and pernicious anaemia? Mildly low ferritin, b12, folate (folic acid) and red blood cells. Hair loss too.
