Sounds like....: It sounds like you have two issues.... you bit your tongue and you may have a bacterial or viral infection or cold. We can not diagnose or treat you over the internet. See your physician (and dentist if necessary).

Aphthous ulcer: This sounds like oral ulcer. The pain in the ear is referred pain from irritation of glossopharyngeal nerve that supplies tongue as well. Avoid consuming hard, hot, spicy foods. Take vitamin D3 (10k IU/day), zinc supplement (50 mg/day), probiotics, vitamin B complex since they speed up healing. Your pain should significantly improve in the next few days. Check with your pcp if soreness persists

Sore throat: A sore throat for 3 weeks is not typical, but it could be strep throat. You included the history that you're a smoker so the best thing that you could do for yourself is to stop smoking and see your doctor soon. Your sore throat could be caused by a viral infection or cancer but only your doctor can tell the difference. Good luck.

Pharyngitis: Sounds like pharyngitis, which can be bacterial but is usually caused by viruses like those that cause the common cold. Since the ears, nose & throat are connected, you can also have an ear infection. Most viruses don't have good treatments Xcpt time (7-14 day). If you were exposed to any known viruses you could get tested but antivirals have to be started in the 1st 2 days to be effective. GL

I have earache (cannot hear frm lft ear) very sore throat (but no tonsils)especially whn swallow, whitish stuff on tongue do I have strep throat?

Earache: You either have wax in the ear of fluid in the middle ear. Sore throat could be a strep infection. The tonsils will have pustules on them or pus. The whitish tongue does not indicate much. You can calm your family doc and ask for an antibiotic if you can not get in to see him or her. Good luck.

Foliate papillae that is on the side of the tongue. I have one that is dark redish black pretty far back on one side. Did not bite it or change diet.?

Tricky to say: Wihtout seeing it, it's pretty tricky. One of the pappilae being different from the others is a bit unusual. Discoloration of the tongue from food or post-nasal drip isn't that unusual. Tumor, small burn or food reaction....

Stiff neck, sore throat, ear ache, headache. White sores in back of mouth/throat and hard to swallow. No fever.

See PCP: Your symptoms are suggestive of acute pharyngitis that is caused by virus or bacteria. Strep infection needs to be ruled out even in the absence of fever. Headache and stiff neck require to be evaluated urgently to rule out other causes.

Yes: MANY possibilities, but rather than guessing I would recommend that you see a Dentist, Oral Surgeon, Physician, or ENT, for examination, correct diagnosis, and treatment plan.

Upper airways: inflammation, can cause such symptoms, which can spread to the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, you want to see an ENT specialist for evaluation and ruling out any serious problem in that area first, especially if you are a smoker or around smokers, meanwhile, saline nasal washes and salt water gargles would help till seen, best wishes
