Am supposed to be on fluoxetine 10mg. But I have never taken it. My heart races when I wake up. Thru the day i feel sad about myself. Would med help?
Probably not.: SSRI's treat anxiety, which is probably why your heart beats faster when you wake up. But 10 mg is not enough fluoxetine to have an effect on anxiety. Also, fluoxetine is 'activating', so it would likely make your symptoms worse initially. A better choice would be escitalopram or paroxetine, to avoid the activating effects. A beta blocker may also be useful- but you need a physical exam first. ...Read more

But there is a rare chance that taking the two medication can lead to an increased risk of bleeding, as fish oil can potentiate the very weak antiplatelet effects of fluoxetine.
