Symbiax: Combination of prozac/zyprexa in short run can cause weight gain, depending on the dose. However, I have several patients on the medication for several months that told me they have maintained their wt. Or lost some, when their moods have been stable for some time, while they maintain healthy life-style changes. ...Read more

Could symbyax (fluoxetine and olanzapine) contribute to a fatty liver?

Uncommon.: While elevations in liver enzymes can occur, development of fatty liver changes as a direct result of fluoxetine/olanzapine is unlikely. It's been ten days I'm taking olanzapine and fluxetine but my symptoms are getting worse, I'm even more suicidal. Is it me or this happens?

Discuss ASAP w/ Dr.: It is very important that you tell the doctor about this - especially the suicidal increase. Don't stop w/out help - but this may not be the right med-mix for you. Yes, it happens to others too, but that does not mean it is okay. Definitely have a prescription re-evaluation soon - today, if possible. I hope and expect that you'll feel better. ...Read more

I am currently taking 60mg of Prozac and 5 mg of zyprexa (olanzapine) for severe resistant depression and anxiety disorder. I've been on both for 2 months and it ha?

Early treatment: In some cases it can be challenging to find a medication combination @ right dose that resolves all symptoms. 2 months is early in your course of treatment with these medicines, and you may yet improve further. Your psychiatrist will want to know how you are so that needed adjustments can be made. I hope you're also in psychotherapy at least supportively, because this can help a lot. Good luck! ...Read more

If i stop antipsychotics will my physical strength all come back? Feel hampered fromlifting weights because joints are hurting. On zyprexa (olanzapine) and Prozac

Check either your MD: Stopping your antipsychotic medication might worsen the condition for which the medication was prescribed. You probably are having side effects to your medication which may be alleviated by a change to another antipsychotic. Discuss your symptoms with your prescribing doctor to see if a change if medication will help. Good luck. ...Read more

I’m taking Olanzapine and it has caused me to rapidly gain weight. Do any other antipsychotic medications have the same benefits without weight gain.

POSSIBLY: Unfortunately this is one of the common side effects of many of the anti psychotic medications. Some of the newer ones may have less weight gain but ultimately you will need a healthy life style with eating healthy and exercise daily. It is possible to not gain weight or to lose weight but you will really have to work on it. Newer ones like Fanapt and Vraylar for instance. ...Read more
