This question: requires an answer from a SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROFESSIONAL !! Benzo-diazepine addiction is one of the most serious addictions "out there" and VERY common..The withdrawal is often prolonged. Fortunately the daily dosage you have been taking is relatively small. Broad question!: Benzodiazepines are used in a rather broad fashion, clinically and 'paradoxical' could mean something the opposite of the intended result. As tranquilizers, i took you to mean that they agitate or 'speed you up' rather than calm you down or help you fall asleep, perhaps even increasing anxiety.
