Fluid Pill For Hair Growth
My hair has been thinning and greying at an alarming rate. Any recommendations for women's hair growth pills?
Generally, no.: Biotin deficiency is rare, but can occur in persons with genetic mutations, on long-term antibiotics or anti-convulsants, or who eat a lot of raw egg whites. There is no good evidence that this easily available, over-the-counter supplement is the magic potion to grow hair or prevent hair loss. Biotin is safe to take, but 10000 mcg per day is over 60 times the usual dose, so is not advisable. ...Read more

Not Really: Bcp's provide hormonal changes that would decrease not increase hair growth. They are used for this purpose to treat polycystic ovarian syndrome, pcos. The only mechanism for you at age 46 that you might see increased hair is if your inherent estrogen production was way down due to age and in the pill free (cycle) week the androgen to estrogen was high. So if no bcp's you would have more hair. ...Read more

Rogaine, (minoxidil) propecia:
A history should be done to determine the
type of hair loss, i.e. All over or just on top of the scalp. Chemicals and straighten products can damage and break hair keeping it from
growing. Family hx of hair loss in men or women. Medications. If is is a male pattern type of loss, rogaine (minoxidil) could slow the hair loss.
Propecia is used mostly in men but has had some success in women. Spironolacton. ...Read more

Check hormones: Before you go too far make sure you don't have any hormone problems. For a young woman thinning hair is very unusual. It's possible you may have a thyroid problem or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). If there is something like that going on you need to address that before nutritional supplements. ...Read more

Is taking biotin healthy? Does it cause side effects? What pills are natural& r recommended for hair growth that will only grow the hair on scalp..
No magic bullet: I will invest heavily in any food which has proven efficacy in promoting hair growth. Hair growth is dependent on many factors including hereditary, stress level, hormone status (thyroid), iron level etc. I have no problem with biotin but it will not likely add a strand of hair to your scalp. See a dermatologist if you are the only one in the family with scanty hair growth. ...Read more

No: Niether olive oil or coconut oil helps hair grow. The only topical product that has been proven to help is rogaine (minoxidil). I heard there's hormonal pills for hirsutism.. excessive hair growth, I'm black and I was wondering do these pills stop hair growth on head as well?
No: No, they work on the areas where the hair follicle is sensitive to (male) hormones by inhibiting the effect of testosterone which accelerates growth. In the case of the head (scalp) hair the excessive testosterone effect leads to hair falling (androgenetic alopecia) and this can be mitigated by the anti hirsutism pills. Thus these pills would slow head hair falling, not slow hair growth on head. ...Read more

Yes, safe but...: Taking all of the things you mention is quite safe. However, there is no guarantee this will result in faster hair growth; if you are deficient in any of those (which is actually quite common) then it should help somewhat; if not deficient then it won't do much for your hair but may still have other health benefits.
