Normal: This is exactly what the tubes are supposed to do - if you have blocked eustachian tube and some fluid in the ear, then it should drain out of the ear through the tube. Dab up what drains out, and if it gets really pussy looking, bad smelling or lots of pain, may need some antibiotic ear drops in addition. Negative pressure : In order for the ear to work properly air from the outside of the ear drum has to be balanced by air on the inside of the eardrum. In an intact ear drum the only way for air to get into the middle ear space is up the eustachian tube. If the eustachian tube doesn't work well the air inside the middle ear gets used up creating a negative pressure. Unlikely: You note ear wax and fluid build up. You note a doctor said no infection. You have pain and think it is infection. It is unlikely that you have an infection but I don't know your age, risks, symptoms beside pain. In the summer it could be that you have build up and pain from allergies.
