Since your discharge is foul smelling and white, there is most likely an infection. Make an appointment with your doctor and, meanwhile, clean the area well with hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball to remove discharge. If the area of you abdomen around the belly button gets red, seek care ASAP. ...Read more

Suggests infection: If the liquid you have coming out of the belly button has a bad smell there is probably some infection present. You can clean the area well with soap and water followed by alcohol to the area. Keep the area dry and clean in this manner for 2-3 days. If the problem persists, see a physician and get the fluid cultured and treated with the proper medication that may be needed. ...Read more

Possible infection: I'm wondering if your bellybutton is also read or itchy, you have clear fluid coming from it you have dirt or other things trapped in your belly button? I would take a bath and with either a washcloth or q-tip gently try to clean out your bellybutton area. After that put some antibiotic ointment on it and see if that helps. Obviously if you had surgery or anything else in the area you should be seen by your doctor right away. ...Read more

Clean better: Honestly, the most common reason i find for this is simply needing to clean more completely. I know that may sound mean. This may require antibiotics and even surgery to correct. ...Read more
