Seromas: Any procedure that involves elevating or undermining of your skin and tissues, can create a potential space for fluid to accumulate. Often surgeons will use drains to help remove this fluid as it collects, but even drains cannot prevent all fluid collections. Can excessive coughing/sneezing the days immediately following lapro inguinal hernia repair mess up the results? Severe pain in right lower abdomen.
Rare: It would be rare to have that happen especially with a laparoscopic approach where the increased abdominal pressure with coughing and sneezing presses the mesh against the defect. Probably just some irritation and strain in the operative area due to the coughing and sneezing. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What to do with 840 mililiters blood in abdomen after hernia surgery had hernia repair surgery on testicle was in bad pain 2 weeks later dr said blood floating around in abdomen
Many : Many times the blood you are talking about is bodily fluids tinged with blood. Sometimes you don't even have to drain that fluid. I'm assuming they did because you have an exact measure of 840 milliliters... Either way many times a collection of bodily fluids or even frank blood as long as the bleeding stopped is left alone for your body to deal with. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The identity of this fluid will determine its course- e.g. Ascites, blood, pus, etc. If no other cause for the nausea and pain, perhaps aspiration to determine what the fluid is may be indicated if your symptoms persist or worsens. Please consult with your surgeon or gastroenterologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Mom have free fluid (lots) in stomach. CT scan normal, show fluid in lung too. Colonoscopy normal. Severe pain in higher abdomen and lower abdomen. ?
Inside or out?: It is unclear from your description if the free fluid in the "stomach" means it is fluid in the abdomen (vs. within the stomach), in which case it would be called "ascites" and this would be abnormal and seen on CT scan. If there is similar fluid in the chest (usually right side), this may be due to liver disease from a variety of causes. Alternatively need to rule out heart disease and cancer ...Read more

Will wearing compression garments help in post hernia repair(on jan 2014), hard ball like seroma in abdomen and strengthen surgery areas?
No help now: There are some repairs in the literature that have shown a benefit in preventing seromas by using a compression garment, but once one forms, it will most likely not help make it go away faster. I less it is causing problems, such as pain, or enlarging significantly, i tell my patients to proceed about their usual activities as it should resolve within 6 months. No need for ct scans or ultrasounds. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
