I've prescribed fluconazole 400 mg/day(1st week) and 200mg/d (3 w.) and later 400mg/d twice a week (candida).I feel bad due this drug. Is it ok dose?

Probably: There does not seem to be adequate literature to assess the risk of Fluconazole exposure from breastmilk on infants so caution is advised. However, Fluconazole is a drug given to neonates to treat candida. When measuring the amount of the drug excreted in breastmilk it has been found to be less than the prescribed neonatal dose so it is probably safe. Possible: Fluconazole can cause your liver to react adversely to it, however, any part of your gastrointestinal tract can do it too. Also, i see you take Lamictal and zoloft (sertraline). Interaction between these may be the culprit likewise. I would suggest you give it another trial and if the same thing happen, call your doc and get an alternative. ...Read more
