Can 10mg celexa (citalopram) be taken with omeprazole? Take celexa (citalopram) at night and then take the omeprazole in am? Was told yes by doc then no by other doc?
Interactions: Agree with dr. Tamler that this is not a safe combo. Omeprazole inhibits a liver enzyme (cytochrome 2c19) that's requires to metabolize celexa (citalopram). This means Celexa (citalopram) could build up in your system, potentially causing heart rhythm disturbances, serotonin syndrome, etc. I don't recommend this combination. ...Read more

Slowly: It is recommended that Omeprazole be weaned as opposed to coming off of it abruptly. If done too rapidly, this can lead to a rebound of acid production and rapid return of symptoms. Some would suggest slowly tapering the dose and using short acting antacids such as calcium carbonate or ranitidine as needed as one weans. I might have taken a 2nd 40mg omeprazole 2 hours after my usual dose. I don't feel different, but should I skip a day to be safe?
Depending on the condition the maximum dose is 80-120mg per day.
