-fever (usually high)
-headache
-nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
-fatigue
-sore throat
-runny nose or congestion
-cough
-body aches

unfortunately, it is difficult to diagnose the flu based on symptoms alone since many other illnesses can cause similar symptoms. Most viral illnesses start to improve after 3-4 days. Congestion in 11 yo: Tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil sinus are ok options, especially before bed. Mucinex dm or Robitussin-DM can also be used and can be used with one if the 1st two options. There are children's versions. Benadryl is another option. Don't blame the flu shot. ...Read more

Probably a viral URI: Seems to me that without a fever or body aches, your productive cough and sinus congestion are most likely not from flu but from a viral upper respiratory infection (URI) otherwise known as a cold. On the other hand, with your history of allergies, you could have a secondary sinus infection. If a cold, 70 to 100 mg of zinc twice daily until 2 days after end of symptoms may help shorten duration. ...Read more
