Can be a cause but!: There can also be other causes. It is best to discuss with your physician.

This is a great drug and it can control your MS but you need guidance to take it safely. It is an immunosupressent and infection can be a risk.

However, any cough that worsens, is associated with fever or lasts more than 2-3 weeks should be evaluated by a doctor. Most coughs associated with an upper respiratory infection go away within 1-2 weeks. There are many problems that could be going on - common things being walking pneumonia, bronchitis, allergies or gastroesophageal reflux but less common and more serious causes could be pneumonia, tuberculosis or congestive heart failure.
