I have been vomiting and diarrhea a mild fever of 100.8 and body and muscle pains could I have the flu even though I had a flu shot this year?

Possible: Flu shots are terrific, but they do not cover 100% of the flu strains. Also, when did you get the shot? It takes about two weeks for your body to build up full immunity to the strains it does cover. You could also have a really bad cold or a number of other viral or occasionally bacterial infections that should be self limited. If you do not start to get better after a cple days though, see a dr. ...Read more

Stomach virus: It sounds like you've picked up a stomach virus a.K.A. Viral gastroenteritis and it's completely unrelated to the flu shot.

You can take an otc diarrhea medicine like loperamide or pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) to help and make sure to drink plenty of fluids, gatorade, and eat very lightly - bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast - nothing heavy or spicy to let your stomach rest. ...Read more

Explanation: These all symptoms most likely related to other viral infection, not flu. To help yourself you need to drink fluids by small amount but very often to prevent dehydration, first of all. Diet with a lot of rice, apple sauce, toast, banana are helpful. Advil or Motrin may help with chills. And Day/nyouil is helpful for sinus congestion. Be well soon. ...Read more

No fever, get it!: People used to get a little sick from the flu shot, because the vaccine did not use killed virus. Now it does. Don't worry. You may get typical arm soreness, but not much. Depends on skill of person giving it. The flu shot mix of flu types this year is supposed to do a better job than last year, too. For side effects (not in everyone) see: See http://www. Cdc. Usually coincidental: Usually, the fever, nausea, and body aches are due to minor illnesses such as viral infections. Other causes are possible, but since typical flu shots rarely cause any reactions aside from at the location of the shot, such common symptoms like fever, nausea, or body aches are generally considered to be coincidences and have some other cause rather than a flu shot. ...Read more
