Flu Non Medication
Hi, I have had a continuous flu for almost a year now and I have tried to get medication but it doesn't seem to go away. What can be the cause?
Not the flu: Influenza infection does not last or intermittently recur for several months. Persistent flu-like symptoms are likely caused by a problem with the immune system (immunodeficiency, rheumatological problem, or types of cancers). A complete physical with testing of your body systems is necessary to determine the cause of these symptoms. ...Read more

I gave my son his valporic acid medication and 1/2 hour later he through it up because of the flu. Should i be worries of him not getting a full dose?
consider half dose: In such a situation, i generally wait a bit until the kids stomach is settled and repeat 1/3 the dose. If the vomit immediately, it would be a full dose. Sometimes having a kid suck on ice chips or chew a sugary gum will settle their stomach long enough to get a dose to stay down. ...Read more

Whatever works: There are many choices out there but not much really works. Our bodies are very efficient at clearing out viruses and that is why we feel lousy with symptoms when we get a cold. I recommend rest, fluids, and the best nutrition possible. Fever reducers can help with the aches when needed and honey is good for throat tenderness and sometimes cough. Guaifenesin is helpful for some, not others. ...Read more

I would like to know the main differences between flu and common cold, Symptoms, Medications, and Procedures? Thanks
Fever, body aches,: A true influenza has sudden onset, true fever (over 38.5 C), severe muscle/body aches, headache, nausea and cough. It also may be accompanied by diarrhea. Usually you feel awful and not able to function. Because the flu weakens you so much, it is common to have a pneumonia soon after the flu in many cases. A cold will rarely have a true fever over 38.5 degrees c. ...Read more
