How long after receiving ivig can you experience side effects like headaches nausea fatigue bodyches (flu like) symptoms?
3 days: A 56 year old female received IVIG, now with headaches, nausea, fatigue, and bodyaches. Usually these symptoms last no more than 3 days, but I have had patients that have had these side effects for 5 days after infusion. Try tylenol (acetaminophen) for the headaches and bodyaches. If the symptoms persist beyond that, please see your primary care physician or the physician who prescribed the IVIG. ...Read more

10 days post op from gallbladder removal. Lethargic and have flu like symptoms , tired, chills, no appetite but no fever. Should i call the doc?
Mgt: I would advise being seen by your PCP. They can then call the surgeon as indicated. It may be a self limited illness, but since you are in the post operative period, monitoring your temperature is important. ...Read more
Yes: After having 24 hours of cold or flu symptoms, a person is still quite contagious. It is hard to tell when a person is not contagious, because that varies from case to case, and because the viruses decrease over a few days (they don't all die at exactly one moment in time). The safer thing to do is to avoid spreading viruses by touching others, or by sneezing or coughing on others, for a week. ...Read more
Flu like symptoms chills, major fatigue, headache coughing congestion no fever. Flu test was negative but feels like the flu?
Depends: If you had the nasal product this is a living virus and you could pass the "vaccine strain" to others. This might produce mild or no symptoms if passed. There is no way that you get or pass the injectable flu vaccine. It is a dead virus. If you had symptoms it is due to a reaction to getting the vaccine, not a flu. ...Read more
Healing from concussion symptoms should I wait until all symptoms are gone before getting a flu shot?
Got a headache, feeling sick all the time, upset stomach. Just withdrawn from Tapentadol. Does this sound like withdrawal symptoms ?
Possibly: Really depends on the dose and how long you were on the drug. During studies less than 5% of the participants had ANY withdrawal signs on stopping from 300 mg daily. Your symptoms are non specific enough to have other causes. Get rest, drink lots of water, eat healthy, become active, and if you can take 2 aspirin (seriously) and you should do fine. ...Read more
Flu shots? I've taken them. Last 3 years i ended up with flu like symptoms even after the shot. I'm starting to hear bad things about these shots.
Don't be pessimistic: Last years' flu shot missed the mark, and was but 13% effective according to the cdc, but this year four potential strains are addressed, and the prediction is for about 70% efficacy. It is worthwhile to lower your risk of becoming sick, and the injection is unlikely to cause any major reaction. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I had flu symptoms yesterday, body aches, chills, low grade fever, and today i feel fine. Is there a such thing as a 24 hour flu?
Sometimes: people who get the vaccine get a brief period of achiness and a feeling they are coming down with something. It is not the flu, it is your immune system revving up in response to the vaccine. OR you coincidently have come down with cold symptoms the day after your shot. You "caught" the cold in the days before your shot. Good for you getting your flu shot. The full blown flu is a misery. ...Read more
