Safe to take GNC Natra Sleep with zoloft (sertraline)? Natra sleep has Passion flower, lemon balm, valerian root, chamomile, and L- Theanine in it. Safe?
Is drinking 60oz distilled water a day dangerous? I am doing the Jillian Michaels Detox for 7 days (lemon, cranberry, dandelion root tea)is it safe?
In context.: Drinking 60 oz of water (doesn't have to be distilled) is adequate for hydration. That amount of water, in general, doesn't have any health effects as long as you're healthy otherwise (no kidney disease, &c). However the "detox" plan & its duration isn't generally advisable. Detox is nutritionally deficient & you can get electrolyte problems. Check w/ your doctor before starting any "fad" diets. ...Read more
Safe and beneficial: The form of streptococcus in many probiotics (and yogurts) is streptococcus thermophilus, considered a friendly bacteria that is a normal part of healthy intestinal flora. This is a very different strain of strep than pathogenic alpha and beta-hemolytic streptococci that cause infections. See http://www.probiotic.org/streptococcus-thermophilus.htm ...Read more
Dr. Tom heston faafp, fasnc, facnm is it ok to take wellbutrin, pristiq, and savella (milnacipran) together?
I am not Dr Heston, : And in my opinion, that combination is very good as long as those medications work together to relieve the symptoms of depression, anxiety and chronic pain. When the illness is severe enough, combining several agents is more effective, causes less side effects, although it can be more costly and cumbersome to maintain the treatment. Hope this answer to your question while awaiting for dr heston's. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Stage4Cancer(started in breast mid-late 50s female)do u think "Biotech nutritions-Pure Graviola 1300mg"gelatin free dietary supplement would help her?
Probably not: Stage 4 breast cancer requires a lot more than just a dietary supplement. Its very important that she follow her oncologists recommendations. If she wants to to try a nutritional adjunct, there are total immersion programs for cancer. Some examples are Dr Lorraine Day's 10 Step Program for Cancer Treatment and Eden Valley Institute of Wellness. These are both great adjunctw. Best wishes! ...Read more

I am drinking Berkley & Jensen sparkling water cranberry raspberry flavor. I read in the ingredient that it has Sucralose. Is this good for you?
Artificial Sweetner: Look up Sucralose, eg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucralose. Since sugars (carbohydrates) are the primary driver of obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, atherosclerosis & cancer, this is likely a better alternative to real sugars. However, it tastes sweet, stimulates insulin, fat storage & reduces ketosis (burning fat), so not perfect. Suggest study: dietdoctor.com, FatChance.html, etc. ...Read more

Is probiotic powder effective? Is buttermilk or curd a probiotic?Any natural probiotics?Doc has asked me to take probiotics but need a reliable brand
Perhaps, marketing: yet few clinical trials, little reliable data. Like many OTC products, labels does not even match the contents. While some data about probiotic benefits with clostridium difficile & ulcerative colitis exists, few reliable brands. Thus natural fermented products likely a better option for now. Study the: "Human Microbiome Project" for insights; >another decade to sort out some of the complexity. ...Read more

I prepare my baby's formula with bottled Spring Water. Is that better than nursery fluoride water? Do I need to boil spring water?
Why not tap water?: Most tap water is perfectly safe to make infant formula with, and likely does not need boiling. Most city tap water contains adequate fluoride and is comparable to nursery water. Bottled water is regulated by the FDA, but mineral content is highly variable, which is somewhat concerning if given to an infant over long periods of time. Fluoride in water is not necessary until teeth are visible. ...Read more

Neutral: Bottled water is convenient to carry around. But the health benefits are not exactly confirmed. In a number of cases, the municipal water is purer than the bottled water. And in some cases the bottled water contains arsenic and lead. There is no agency supervision of this and much bottled water is just tap water anyway. Fiji is not better or worse than the others. ...Read more
