Flonase Dosage And Use
I have a chest & nasal infection. Dr gave me flonase and cheratussin ac. Is it safe to take with my usual 1.5mg xanax (alprazolam) dosage? Doc knows I take xanax (alprazolam)
Hey Dr., feeling "racey" after using flonase while on 30mg-10mg tapering dose, first day at 20. Is this normal? Been very moody too!
Steroid effect: I believe the tapering dose of steroid is what has been making you feel racey and Flonase is unlikely to be the culprit since very little of it is absorbed by the body. Steroid (Prednisone etc) especially in high doses often affects one's mood. I would expect these issues to subside within a few days after the last dose. Do you have any idea what the treatment is for? ...Read more
Hi! Is it okay if I take a 1.5x dose of Flonase (2 sprays at night, and 1 the following morning) the first time I am taking it? Thank you!
For a few weeks.: You will likely be ok if you are using the higher dose for just a few weeks. For chronic use, I am not sure if there may be some systemic effect even though at the dose described it is likely ok. ...Read more
Accidently took a double dose of FLONASE nasal spray today (8 hrs apart). Is it possible to overdose on this - will I be ok?
You are ok: As long as you are not doing this on a regular basis, the extra dose today will not cause you problems. Be careful and take care. ...Read more
Commonly used: It is not unusual for your OTO specialist to place you on a short course of oral steroid at the same time you are started on a nasal spray like Flonase. If the 5mg prednisone steroid you are taking was not prescribed by the same doctor that prescribed the Flonase, please notify them immediately ...Read more

We went to ER for severe allergic reaction. Thought it was from antibiotics, but now wondering if it might have been from a single dose of Flonase?
Unlikely: Flonase allergy causing severe allergic reaction would be very rare. Make an appointment with a board certified Allergist so that he/she can take a detailed past medical history and go over the events of the day of the reaction so that they can get a better sense of what you might have reacted to. ...Read more
How soon after taking a dose of prednisone can I take a breathing treatment? Currently taking zpack, prednisone, pro air, breathing, Flonase, Zyrtec (cetirizine)
I am having a hard time getting rid of a runny nose and constant itching/"ready to sneeze" feeling. I've taken claritin-d, Flonase two sprays in both nostrils bid, and even did a saline lavage of my nose before the second Flonase dose... And nothing has c
You: You have to take the Flonase for a week for it to be effective and you should do nasal washes on a daily basis. If you are not getting better then you should seek a local allergist to evaluate your condition for other diseases mimicking your symptoms or if you need further treatment with immunotherapy. ...Read more
All about the same: All of the topical steroids have about equal efficacy (activity) and safety. I do not think changing from Flonase to another topical steroid will significantly change your nasal function. Remember, these drugs are specifically used for allergic and non-allergic rhinitis. Check with an allergist. Finally, although these topical steroids are about the same, some people do prefer a particular one. ...Read more
Flonase: Topical nasal steroid sprays like Flonase have near negligible absorption in your system (ie blood). Blood levels of any nasal steroid is far below any oral steroid dosing a doctor would give. Topically within the nasal cavity Flonase is active for 12-24 hrs on the mucosa. So we recommend either once or twice daily dosing depending on symptom severity. ...Read more
Pretty well: Most people get good relief using this topical corticosteroid spray 1-2 puffs each nostril daily. Sometimes you have to use if twice a day to get symptoms under control. If it's not working well it may be that you haven't shaken the bottle enough, you incorrectly positioned the tip of the device, you don't have allergic rhinitis or you need allergy immunotherapy. See an allergist. ...Read more
