I'm having autonomic testing scheduled. I have to stop Claritin (loratadine) for 3 days. Can I take fluticasone/flonase spray or do I need to stop that too?
My allergies are unbearable today.. I take Zyrtec and Flonase daily and they did nothing. I took Allegra too with no relief, can I also take Claritin (loratadine)?
You can, but: It is unlikely to add additional coverage after taking both Zyrtec and Allegra (fexofenadine). There are many potential symptoms that may be driving you crazy and knowing more about them will help a physician to recommend short term therapy for short term relief. See Allergist and consider virtual consult if needed. ...Read more
I take flonase and allergra for seasonal allergies, and that usually controls it. Today it is not. Can I take allegra, claritin, or benadryl?
If taking Allegra already you should not double up on a long acting antihistamine (Allegra, Claritin, Zyrtec). This can cause heart issues.
Intra-nasal steroids (Flonase) should be used routinely. Adding Allegra is fine on an-needed basis. Adding short acting (Benadryl) is ok but indicates need for better preventive care (environmental controls, more consistent Flonase use, allergy shots). ...Read more
I took Sudafed, Flonase and Afrin (oxymetazoline) but getting no relief for allergy congestion, can I take Claritin on top of the other meds?
Afrin (oxymetazoline)?: You need to see an expert to determine the cause of the congestion and confirm that it is related to allergy. If you have been taking Afrin (oxymetazoline) for more than 5 days consecutively, then the persistent congestion is most likely now caused by the Afrin (oxymetazoline) (it causes sensitization and "rebound congestion"). Claritin can be added safely, but it may not be effective if underlying issue not addressed ...Read more
