Rapaflo is newer than Flomax and the profiles of effectivenss and side effects are similar although the newer one always tends to claim being better and less.

Cardura or flomax (tamsulosin) - which one is better?

Alpha-blockers: Both are alpha-blockers used to relax the smooth muscle of the prostate and bladder neck resulting in improved urinary flow (can be used in both men and women). Both are available in generic form. Each can result in a decrease in bp: Flomax (tamsulosin), however, is intended to be more selective for alpha-1a type receptors and is not intended for use as an anti-hypertensive agent.

What effect does flomax (tamsulosin) have on cataracts?

What effect does flomax (tamsulosin) have on cataracts?

None: Flomax (tamsulosin) does not cause cataracts to progress more quickly or more slowly. The reason that the ads on tv tell patients to alert their doctor is so that the surgeon can have extra measures on hand during cataract surgery. Floppy iris can be dealt with in the o.R. With special medicines and artificial iris holders, so patients on Flomax (tamsulosin) should not stop the medicine for cataract surgery.

Why does sperm output diminish when you're taking flomax (tamsulosin)?

Why does sperm output diminish when you're taking flomax (tamsulosin)?

Actually doesn't: Alpha blocker drugs used for prostatic enlargement such as Flomax cause what is commonly known as retrograde ejaculation. Semen is still produced but it takes the path of least resistance backwards into the bladder rather than forwards during ejaculation. Stopping the drug for 1 to 2 days will generally result in return of ejaculated semen

My husband wants to quit flomax (tamsulosin) after adverse rxn does he have to taper off takes 0.4 mg bid?

My husband wants to quit flomax (tamsulosin) after adverse rxn does he have to taper off takes 0.4 mg bid?

Flomax (tamsulosin): He should be able to simply stop it, however if he required 0.8mg daily for BPH symptoms, I would expect that his symptoms would be significant on no medication. He may want to discuss other options with his urologist before stopping.

Can flomax (tamsulosin) cause you to lose weight? I have been on it or 2 years several with other side effects.

Can flomax (tamsulosin) cause you to lose weight? I have been on it or 2 years several with other side effects.

Listen to your body: If one experiences a side effect while on a medication it is reasonable to suspect that the medication may in some way be contributing to the unintended effect. Tamsulosin can lower blood pressure which can cause many unpleasant symptoms including nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, or diarrhea. It is possible that such effects could result in weight loss.

I have chronic prostatitis at age 26 how in the world did this happen and what to do besides take my flomax (tamsulosin)?

You are not: The only one, it is more common than you think. You need to take plenty of fluids, take hot baths to your waist, exercise moderately, avoid sitting or standing for long time in one place. You might also need antibiotics. Go see a urologist for more details.

I accidentally took 4 0.4 Flomax, (tamsulosin) instead of the 4 50mg clomipramine I'm supposed to take. What might happen?

Floras: You can take up to 0.8 mg flomax (tamsulosin) daily. The dose will likely cause side effects. Common for Flomax: dizzinee and headache. You may have troubles with BP being low. Carful when standing. The effects may last 24 hours. I would call your local poison center for further information.

Mirabegron (betmiga) seems to not stop my frequency and urgency so much. I'm on 50mg with flomax (tamsulosin). 4mg. May I need more dosage?

Here are some...: The effectiveness of a drug is not always as good as what claimed by the company. Since you've been under urologist's care for obstructive irritative voiding, referring this Q directly to her/him would be the most logical & beneficial thing to do because your doc knows more about your individual condition than anyone online. May take longer: Many patients experience earlier change in urine flow. It can take six or more weeks for maximum effect. Dizziness and drowziness arei major side effects of Flomax, (tamsulosin) an alpha1 adrenoceptor blocking agent.

Time: Symptoms of prostatitis can be vague. Your description is not uncommon. Hydrate well, minimize caffeine and carbonation, try the hot club, and you should clear soon.
