I'm Af Paroxymal. How long the flecainide ( tambocor) treatmant be allowed?

Depends: If it's working, one could use this over the long term. The caveat is that you should have routine stress testing done while on the medication. Also, as you get older your actuarial risk of coronary artery disease increases. The main contraindication to using flecainide is coronary artery disease, so some doctors don't like to maintain elderly patients on flecainide. ...Read more

How many days must i stooped Tambocor (flecainide) before AF Ablation?

Check with doctor: This is an important question to ask the electrophysiologist performing your procedure, as each expert has their own style. Some may not want to stop the flecainide. Most ablationists will expect a medication to be below an effective level after 5 half-lives, which, in the case of flecainide, would suggest taking the last dose about 3 days prior to the day of your procedure. Clarify with doc. ...Read more

What the reason some of EP may not want to stop Tambocor (flecainide) before AF Ablation? n why some of EP want to stop Tambocor (flecainide) before AF ablation?

Depends: If you are in atrial fibrillation then you can take either approach. However, if you are in sinus rhythm and taking tambocor, (flecainide) I prefer to stop it prior to the ablation to make it easier to induce atrial fibrillation at the time of the ablation. I ask my patients to take an anti arrhythmic after the ablation during the healing phase (3 months) to minimize arrhythmias. ...Read more

Diagnosed with avnrt (among other abnormalities) doc prescribed tambocor (flecainide). Other non-pill options available? He doesn't want to ablate

Usually meds: Avnrt will usually require medical treatment, if not ablation, though other options compared to tambocor (flecainide) would include beta blockers, calcium channel blockers or digoxin. Lifestyle changes may help--avoiding smoking, drug or alcohol abuse, avoiding caffeine & other stimulants, minimizing stress & anxiety, getting enough sleep, using relaxation or meditation techniques...These may all help. ...Read more

Is it safe to get pregnant when taking tambocor (flecainide)? My cardiologist said its immediate abortion if i do.

Is it safe to get pregnant when taking tambocor (flecainide)? My cardiologist said its immediate abortion if i do.

Category C: A drug with a pregnancy category c rating means use with great caution in pregnancy only if benefits outweigh the risk. Animal studies show risk and human studies are not available or have not been done. I would not put my future offspring at risk for harm with a category c drug. Talk with cardiologist about transitioning you to a different med if you want to get pregnant. ...Read more

On labetelol tambocor (flecainide) diathazide severe PVC hypertension recent angiogram show ascending thoracic aorta prominent with 3.7 CM dilation. Concerned?

Close observation: It sounds like you have a couple different issues that require regular observation. While your aortic root diameter does not suggest that surgery is needed at this time, your blood pressure needs strict control and regular imaging studies can detect enlargement. And if your pvcs are not well controlled on tambocor (flecainide) or if you have more than 10-15, 000 per day, catheter ablation can be a good option. ...Read more
