Fish Oil Headache
Been taking fish oil pills for years (~2000-3800 mg/day). Stopped & started getting headaches. Related? Coincidence? Should I stop fish oil? Thanks
There are many: studies that support the use of good quality marine fish oil for eye, joint, brain, and cardiovascular health. Poor quality fish oil can be impure and weak. Prothera, Nortic Naturals, and some others are best. Check to see if has been purified several times and the amount of EPA+DHA in it--ought to be about 50 %. Peace and good health. ...Read more
Fish oils contain two active omega-3 fatty acids, dha and epa. Most fish oil products contain both dha and epa, but supplements enriched in dha or epa are available. Took melatonin and woke up with terrific headache. Also take ramipril, buspar, (buspirone) lexapro, fish oil, iron and multi vit. Can these be taken togetger?

High blood pressure may be a cause for headache in some people. You could also try a lower dose of melatonin and see if this helps. ...Read more
Is there any good proof yet, that 1-2g fish oil per day helps prevent headaches, helps get over anxiety symptoms, or lessen depression feelings?
One if not more of my vitamins are making me sick to my stomach and headache everytime but i don't know which one out of the iron vit d zinc fish oil?
Eliminate/challenge: None of these commonly cause headaches, though it is not unusual for zinc to cause nausea, especially on an empty stomach. The best way to sort this out would be to stop them all for a few days & then re-introduce them one at a time to see how they affect you. It is ok to take vit d and fish oil together (best after a meal). Zinc and iron will be better absorbed if taken separately from fish oil. ...Read more
@dr appt today, told him was taking fish oil capsules daily. He told me that it "wasn't a good idea, and I should stop". Are benefits > risks?
Fish oil: Other doctors may have different opinions. I feel that there is fairly good evidence that fish oil can lower the risk of certain kinds of heart events; it is also an anti-inflammatory supplement good for chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Finally, there are several studies that show that people who take health supplements (regardless of which kind) are healthier than people who do not. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No/Yes: Most anything can be harmful if taken improperly. Think about it, drinking too much water can make you very ill or you can die.
