Neuropathy: you didn't tell us which fingers were numb so it could be one or several nerves being compressed. Go see your doctor. Massage is not going to fix this. You need some nerve testing, splinting and depending on the results possibly surgery. ...Read more

3 y/o g/d woke up last noc c/o fingers hurting , bilateral swelling of fingertips with fluid noted on pads of fingers. Temp earlier in week due to uri, but temp now gone. Sounds like a felon, however no known injuries any suggestions?

See below: Have the child seen by her pediatrician. Lesions and swelling of the fingers/hands can be due to viruses like coxsackie (hand, foot, mouth disease), or parvovirus, or the later manifestations of kawasaki's disease, which can be very serious. Also, bacterial infections or severe allergic reactions could be the cause. Again, see your doc asap. ...Read more

Contact or irritant: You likely have a contact allergy (especially if you have atopic dermatitis) to something used on hands (soap, scented lotion etc). Dry skin can also cause itching and too much washing causes irritation (burning and swelling) thus avoiding excessive contact with water and applying unscented hand lotion after hand- washing whenever possible may help. See dermatologist if problem persists. ...Read more
