Fingers Skin Splitting
Could periodic rapid thickening (then splitting and peeling) of skin on tips of all fingers and toes combined with rust colored pits on finger pads indicate an autoimmune problem?
Its possible: Rough, thick skin on the finger tips with cracks and discoloration can be related to repeated exposure to chemicals/dry environment. This can also be seen is polymyositis and dermatomyositis which are autoimmune diseases involving primarily the muscles and skin respectively.See 1 more doctor answer
Simply stop doing it: It would not cause serious problem. But you'd better cover it with bandaid to let it regrow. I assume it did not cause bleeding yet.
Uncertain: How was it cut? What thickness of skin was cut - depth? What part of the finger was cut? Are there any medical conditions which might impact healing (such as diabetes mellitus)?
Show it to a doctor.: A questionable finding on your skin should be examined in person by a physician. Best of luck.
Consider: Dermatological examination.Get a more detailed answer ›

When working with steel small burrs or slivers touch skin on fingers and I get sharp pains in fingers and seems my whole body?
Theky are painful: Wear gloves if possible, most factories have large lenses to get those metal slivers out. You need to do this because the pain will continue until you do. Again, wear gloves if possible but definitely get the splinters out.
I have burned my finger with a deep fryer at work. My skin has shrivelled and dried up, and has turned brown. Will this heal back to my original skin?

Good Skin Hygiene: Avoid long hot showers, frequent hand washing, and harsh and drying cleansers like Ivory, Irish Spring, or Lever 2000. Apply fragrance-free moisturizer like Vanicream or Aquaphor at least two times per day. Reduce itch with OTC antihistamines like Zyrtec. For break-through itch, oral Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and/or Sarna lotion can be added. Irritating environmental factors should be avoided.
Fingertip eczema: Eczema on the fingertips is sometimes called fingertip eczema. If the eczema affects more of the hand than just the fingertips, it may be called hand eczema. Eczema on the fingertips may affect all the fingers or only some of the fingers. Fingertip eczema may affect the area of fingerprints or along or below the fingernail. It may be a form of contact dermatitis which is an allergic reaction.See 1 more doctor answer
