Peeling toes: There is a virus that can cause peeling of the fingers and toes, accompanied by fever, sore throat, stiff neck, and meningitis like picture that needs to be ruled out. This is a dangerous viral infection and getting medical attention is a must. If other symptoms are not present, it may be a contact dermatitis causing the skin to peel. See a dermatologist: The peeling may be a form of eczema known as dyshydrotic eczema or it may be yeast or fungal related. Sometimes, if one cream is not working one just needs to try and alternative one.

Fungal skin: It sounds like it can either be a fungal infection or dermatitis. Topical antifungal cream can be tried for 3-4 weeks to clear condition.

See a dermatologist: No, skin does not have layers like an onion. A dermatologist will help you. Meanwhile use hand cream several times a day and use a mild cleanser such as dove.

Atopy?: This sounds possibly like a combination of eczema and asthma which often go hand in hand. The length of illness doesn't sound like scarlet fever. Would be worth getting her examined by a doctor to make a diagnosis and/or arrange tests plus treatment

Kawasaki disease!: Desquamation not a severe problem as development of coronary aneurysms, and elevated platelet count to the risk of thrombus/embolus formation for which daily aspirin has to be prescribed. Ideally immunoglobulins were administered early and echocardiogram has been performed and was negative for cardiac abnormalities.

Could periodic rapid thickening (then splitting and peeling) of skin on tips of all fingers and toes combined with rust colored pits on finger pads indicate an autoimmune problem?

Could periodic rapid thickening (then splitting and peeling) of skin on tips of all fingers and toes combined with rust colored pits on finger pads indicate an autoimmune problem?

Its possible: Rough, thick skin on the finger tips with cracks and discoloration can be related to repeated exposure to chemicals/dry environment. This can also be seen is polymyositis and dermatomyositis which are autoimmune diseases involving primarily the muscles and skin respectively.

See PCP: The history you give bothers me. This could be something minor but I can think of 2 infectious problems that could have significant consequences if left unrecognized. Try to get in before the weekend or no later than early next week.

My 3 year old son has a mystery lung problem for over a year now. He has chronic bronchitis and multiple hospitalizations. He waas hospitalized with107 fever andnow peeling skin on his toes and fingers. What could it be?

Agree with both: I agree with both drs. Ferguson and belilovsky. This sounds like a complicated case and more than likely has more than 1 answer. The fevers/skin definitely raises the possibility of kawasakis, ut the other chronic lung problems are best evaluated by your pediatrician and a pulmonologist. Good luck.

See Specialist: See the expert in skin disorders - the Dermatologist. Impossible to diagnose without seeing it, but it may be psoriasis, or eczema. Get the appointment to get yourself feeling better. Good Luck.

How to stop peeling on my fingers?

How to stop peeling on my fingers?

Hydrate: Most peeling is from dehydrated skin or an eczema type of reaction. Both may be easily treated with first drinking plenty of water. Second, every time your hands get wet (shower, wash, etc), while still soaking wet rub in petroleum jelly (vasaline, aquaphor) for 30 seconds then towel dry. This should do the trick.
