A finger fracture: At the tip under the nail can give a hematoma (bluish) under the nail. Typically if it is just a bruise pain subsides in a few days. There may be: Just a soft tissue injury but there may also be a nondsplaced fracture or even a displaced fracture that a tendon or ligament attaaches to. While just pain and swelling alon can redurce motion, oif it is not getting better an evaluation and an xray may be needed. Even if fractured many fingettip injuries with intact skin as long as they ate not associated with a tendon injury don need much. ...Read more

Extent of injury?: If you have severe pain, decreased range of motion, uncontrolled bleeding, or deformity those would be reasons to be evaluated. If you are doubt about having a fracture it would be best to be evaluated. Most likely better: Numbness is due to injuring the nerve. Nerves usually do recover from crushing injuries -- of course worse injuries are harder to recover from. It takes quite a long time, though. I think you're finger is going to be ok with more time. ...Read more

Finger injury: If there is blood under the nail- it will resolve itself. Should have been drained. IF IT IS JUST BLUE ON THE PULP of the finger-- will take 2-3 week to get better-- pain relief recommend. Don't worry. It will: When you jamm your nail or get it injured, the nail will slowly become loose and eventually come out.

But worry not, the new one is already in the making and slowly it will replace the otherwise dead nail. The blood that you are seeing inside the nail may need to come out, if it is causing pain. Otherwise the nail will be replaced by a new one in due course of time. ...Read more
