Pores: Without a closeup exam I cannot say for certain but the pores are part of the normal anatomy of your skin and they are full of sebum (oil) from below. When it gets to the surface it oxidizes and turns dark. To try to "clean" them you would be as successful as King Canute ordering the tide to hold back at his command.
