Fill A Prescription For Alprazolam
Is it ok to take ativan (lorazepam) in place of my klonopin/xanax until I can get my regular prescription filled? I hope you can see all the meds I take on here...
Call your doctor: I see that you're on xanax (alprazolam), (alprazolam) but I don't see Klonopin or ativan. I suggest contacting the physician prescribing your medications and asking him/her about this. Ativan may cover in a pinch, but may not be exactly equivalent to xanax (alprazolam). ...Read more

Depends: Since it is a heavily abused medication, most physicians will be cautious about prescribing it without determining if it really is the only option for someone. I have prescription for. 25mg of Xanax (alprazolam) I use occasionally, like 2-4 times a month. Can I become dependent? Don't feel so just curious.
If you use your medicine this rarely, it is not likely you will become dependent on it. You can never say never,
Dependency normally follows frequent, high dosing. The body may change in response to this, and withdrawal occurs when the medicine is stopped.

My prescription is 1mg of alprazolam, but I only take half, at night...Is it okay if I take 1/4 of it a little before and the other 1/4 later at night?
Let MD know, but yes: If this allows you to rest comfortably at night the less medication the better, although if you find yourself always having to wake up then taking a half tablet up front rather than a fourth may work better for you. I would let your doctor know as soon as possible that you are not needing as much medication so that they can reduce your prescription in accordance with the change in the evening. ...Read more
