I took an Allegra (fexofenadine) pill but didn't know it was expired till after. I'm wondering if that could cause me any side effects?
Expired allegra (fexofenadine): In general never take expired medication,some have serious effects. Speak to your OB/GYN: Both medications are rated by the FDA as Category C in pregnancy meaning that side effects cannot be ruled in human subjects. Personally, I wouldn't want my wife taking either of those medications during pregnancy if she could either avoid them for other approaches or alternative medications (which there would be very few indeed). I read a side effect of Allegra (fexofenadine) is dysmenorrhea. Is that only if it's taken during one's period? What if I take it only during the rest of the month?
Allegra (fexofenadine) safer: Zyrtec causes sedation & slows reaction time in about 8% of users. Allegra (fexofenadine) does not. In high doses zyrtec can have adverse effects on cardiac rate & rhythm through its mild effects as an anticholinergic agent. Not so with allegra (fexofenadine). The parent compound of allegra (fexofenadine), terfenadine marketed as seldane, caused rare but serious heart rhythm problems.
