No: Acute pharyngitis is usually a viral infection. I wonder if your PMD put you on an antibiotic. If so, the white tongue could be a fungal infection. Maybe viral...: Many times our body fights viral and even bacterial invasion but no major symptoms are present because our immune system can fight it off. The white spots are collection of dead cells so to say and it usually resolves on its own. If there are no other symptoms you should be fine otherwise. White spots on tonsils. Amox 3 days no improvement. Scraped with qtip. Removed what appeared to be food. Some pain is gone. Keep doing this? No fever.

You can express or scrape them off. Better to gargle regularly to get them off.
