Fever Virus In Children
Is there a virus that has no fever, but makes children very tired, achey, chilled, and a heavy feeling?
VIRAL SYNDROME: When after a thorough medical exam and we cannot find a cause, DX is viral syndrome.
Does fever in children stay the same during the cold virus. My 3 year olds fever was 100.5 first 3 days and 102.5 the last 2. His congestion is better?
It cycles: Viruses are actually famous for having cyclic fevers, up one minute and gone the next. That's why schools have a 24 hour no-fever policy, since it can be difficult to tell if the illness is truly gone or if it's just in a "down cycle". As long as the fever responds 2-3 degrees to tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin and other symptoms are improving, he should be fine.See 1 more doctor answer
Not sure: Need more information to be able to answer. Fever is often associated with many infections, including viral. Different viruses cause different problems and different symptoms. The amount of fever usually does not suggest a particular infection. If it is very high in a child that is not acting sick, it can be a common childhood virus. "low fever virus" is really not a classification of viruses.
What kind of virus could cause your ALT to suddenly elevate to 74? Had nocturnal fevers for 4 nights but they dissipated.
Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, ALT of 74 is not terribly high and you may just wish to repeat it in about three months. If you take alcohol, stop entirely for there months before the test.

Yes: Most children have higher fevers in the evening or night, and lower temps during the day. This is one of the reasons that we use the rule of 24 hours without fever before returning to school or daycare. Just because the fever may be normal in the morning doesn't mean that the child is no longer contagious.
Fluids: Fluids should be the mainstay of treatment/nutrition in case of a fever in a toddler. He/she may not quite an appetite for solids when running a fever and I would not push anything other than liquid diet. When he/she improves, appetite naturally returns. Otherwise, if they show desire to eat, let them eat what they want.
If my one year old has a fever from a virus....What do I do....What kind of medicine do she need?
Keep her comfortable: The most important thing to know about fevers is that they are rarely harmful. They can cause a lot of discomfort though. Our bodies create fevers to inhibit reproduction of viruses and bacteria. Fever also makes our muscles ache and we alternate feeling cold or hot. Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can help reduce fever but may not get rid of the fever. An ice pack on the neck can also help.See 1 more doctor answer
M South Indian. Why we all feel food tasteless when we have fever? Virus attacking our taste glands?
Nose problem: Taste is intimately connected to smell. With a cold, the nasal congestion dampens taste for all but the spiciest foods (those are senses through a different system). When the nose opens back up, the taste should return.
My friend had a fever, can he drink cold water to cool him down? Does fever has any relate with viruses?
I had a virus with a fever but have been better for a day. I am still waking up drenched in sweat. Is this normal?
Night sweats: No, this isn't "normal" -- but it still is probably just the effect of your viral infection. Drenching night sweats usually mean continuing fever that breaks during the night. But if this continues a few more days, discuss with your doctor. Maybe you have some other kind of infection rather than the virus, or in addition to it. Good luck!
18month boy diagnosed with entero and rhino virus with fever 100.8-101.8x 21 days. Is it normal for fever to last this long?
I get a mild fever of around 99 degrees in 2-3 months which lasts for around 2 weeks! They say its just a virus but I wonder why frequent fever?
Fever: A body temperature of 99 f is quite normal and is not fever. Your body temps are low in the early am and higher in the evening, but as long as they do not exceed 100 f they are not considered as fever.
Body raises temperature to kill viruses or bacterias. By reducung fever, do we slow down the elimination process or what? Will appreciate opinion.
Many doctors: Believe that to be the case.Get a more detailed answer ›
My DD is 6. I was worried that since she has a fever again after 3 days w/no fever it meant it was something more serious. She just got over a virus.
What types of summer viruses are prevalent? I reside in VaBeach. 2 yr old has had something for over a week- fever started 2.5 days 103-- coughing now
Fever: There are many reasons for illness in summer time. Many viruses can cause fever with cough and cold. More important is to see your pediatrician to make sure, there is no ear infection or any other reason for the fever where he may need antibiotics. Otherwise Supportive care with fever suppressants and Increase fluid intake will help tide over this illness
What causes a fever? Bacteria or virus? I know its a germ that causes sickness but what causes a fever, bacteria or virus? .
Both: Bacterial and viral infections can cause fevers, in fact they are hallmark symptoms. Viral fevers tend to be lower grade as a rule, and bacterial higher. It is one way the body fights back, by basically "cooking" the pathogen in an attempt to kill it off. The mechanisms are too lengthy to describe here, but the answer is both.
