Doctor insights on:
? Teething Fever?: I'm not convinced kids have teething fever & if they do it would be low grade at most. Since teething can encompass the first 3 yrs & the are due for 5-7 respiratory & 3 diarrheal illness/yr at the same time there is bound to be some overlap. I would be concerned with persistent fever in a kid whose feeding & activity decline & want that kid seen. If playful & happy during the process, just monitor. ...Read more

My almost 6 month old has a fever of 102.3. Can he run fevers with teething? He has no other symptoms and is not fussy at all.
Due for an illness: I don't accept fever >101 as teething & am not sure it causes much stress in most infants. By 4mo the protective antibodies passed to baby during pregnancy have warn off & a kid is due for some random viral illnesses. If he is drinking well & wetting a diaper every 4-6h & playful for periods during the day, you may be able to monitor the situation at home. If he starts to act sickly, have him seen. ...Read more

A little high: 100.9 is a little high. May be teething, but more probably a cold. Ck w pediatrician. And see a pediatric dentist no later than 1st b'day. 2 or 3 is late. You need to talk to pedodontist about care of baby teeth, diet, hygiene, growth and development of teeth and jaws, Fluoride (remember, permanent teeth are already forming), and so many other things. And your child & the dr can bond. ...Read more

Infection from dermabond wound. They have to have more than one symptom? My son has a fever. He's also teething 19 months old
Take him to doctor: If the wound appears red, swollen, feels like it has liquid, draining or smells bad it may be infected. This type of infection can cause a fever. Take him back to where he had the wound repaired so that they can evaluate him. Many times just a small little piece needs to be opened for drainage. I would not delay on having him evaluated by a doctor. ...Read more
My 6 month old keeps grabbing his ear when he cries or when the dog barks. He doesn't act sick or have a fever. He is teething. Infected ear?
Could be infecion: Crying causes increase pressure in ears, lound noise causes eardrum to vibrate etc. Thus can increase pain. If there is an infection, the drum area is more sensitive to pressure and thus things that cause changes here can increase pain, hence child is pulling and crying. I would have him evaluated. Since he is only 6 months, antibiotic is often recommended. Good luck. ...Read more
1 yr old. Runny nose, cough, teething. Fever for 3 days range 98-102. Tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofin help. Still plays, eats and drinks. What to do?
Teething pain help: Generally Ibuprofen is much more effective for teething than acetaminophen. You can also let your baby chew on a soft bristle tooth brush. Some parents have found camilia really aids in teething discomfort. It is important you do not give your baby more than four doses of Acetaminophen per day. Some children will chew on your finger to put some pressure back on the erupting tooth. Good luck. ...Read more

15 month old had tick bite 10 days ago. Today very tearful and vomited once. No fever. No rash. Maybe teething. Can vomiting be due to tick?
My baby has had a cold for around a week, nose runs, but now has fever of 102, is teething. Worry? Or just motrin?
Age: If your baby is less than 3 months of age or has symptoms like persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing or feeding with decreased wet diapers I would have the baby seen now. If the baby is older and otherwise well, treat the fever and see your MD tomorrow. Remember you are looking at the baby and if you are worried always have him/her seen. All the best and I hope she/he feels better soon. ...Read more
I can't afford teething medicine is there anything I can do for my baby he's in pain and has a fever?
Teething Pain: I would recommend a baby aspirin, following the directions on the bottle or box that it comes in. You can rub the gums gently, similar to a massage, with your fingertip, or even a moist q-tip. Ideally, oragej would be a good solution that is safe for babies that are teething. I do not think that this is very expensive, and a single tube should last for your baby's entire teething period. ...Read more
My 5 montha old baby has been having a fever around 37.1c since yesterday. He is feeding and active. Should I be worried? Could it be he is teething?
Not fever: Under 38c which is 100.4f is not considered fever why did you take it he could be teething but that alone would not cause a fever. If teething you are lucky as he is not showing it I would not take the temp unless the baby is showing some abnormal behavior or symptoms I assume you are following your md advice about feeding and have started solid foods good luck with your child. ...Read more
