9 month baby suffering 4m fever 4 past 6days.blood n urine reports r negative reduces for paracetamol n comes again after three hours.antibiotic given?
Close Observation: Your 9 mos old baby has fever x 6 days; negative urine/blood tests. Infection is a common & serious cause of fever in infancy. The tests tell us whether the cause is bacterial vs. viral. Bacterial infections require antibiotics whereas viruses are self-limited. Persistent fever is common with viruses. Fever is uncomfortable but is a sign of normal immune response. Follow closely with your doctor. ...Read more

My son is 113 CM 4 yrs 17.5 kg how much meftal p can be given if he has continuous high fever even after crocin.
No to meftal: Meftal is not available in the US, but from everything that I have read on-line including articles published from NIH states that Meftal is NOT recommended in children. If the fever is high and your child is lethargic, not drinking etc then take him to a doctor. If he's otherwise doing ok then it's okay to just watch.Remember fever is an immune response to fight infection. It's a good to a point ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Twin baby 4weeks having vomiting 4-6 /day weight 2.5 kg failure to thrive. Active and no fever... Abdomen soft.. Domstal drops tried but no response.
Gastro-esophageal: Reflux is a common cause of vomiting in low-birth-weight babies. Pyloric stenosis is another possible cause, usually with projectile vomiting by 6 weeks. If baby was ill as a newborn, there may be other causes. If vomiting causes inadequate weight gain ( less than 20-30 gms./day), it is definitely worth having baby's pediatrician evaluate ; treat or refer to a pediatric gastroenterologist. ...Read more
Should my 8 yr old child still have a fever after seeing the dr. 5 days ago and being diagnosed w/ a "virus", not strep. She has been taking ibuprofen as prescribed every 6-8hrs, but the 2nd day after seeing the dr. We added childrens tylenol every 4 hrs
How often to rotate tylenol (acetaminophen) and motrin on a 4 yr old whose fever spikes back after only 2 1/2 hrs after dose?
I never do: I pick one or the other medication and stay with the schedule of the one i pick.Fever is not damaging to kids, and stacking medications is unlikely to do much more than give you something to do. Spend more time making sure the kid has access to fluids and is voiding at least every 6 hours. The fever will run it's course in time. ...Read more
Moderate to high fever for 14hours now. Too much body/back pain before the fever started, no cough, no cold, heavy sweating after taking medicine, pai?
5yo daughter fever for 9 days now. Temp at 39.9c highest, reacts to acetaminophen to <37.5 but climbs back post dosage time.
Fever not breaking. why?
Needs diagnosis: You should take your child to a doctor to figure out 'what' is going on. Acetaminophen will indeed 'mask' the fever, but you need to find out the 'root cause' of the problem. For any fever that's prolonged like this, she needs a thorough evaluation. I don't want to scare you, but a self-limited illness should be done and over with by now. An infectious diseases specialist would be able to help. ...Read more

9 yr old girl w high fever (101-104.5 ear) for 48 hrs and NO other symptoms.Alternating Adv/Tyl when temp reaches 102.She had febrile seizure @ 18 mths.High fever common 4 her, but not so long?
Youre on right track: Most fevers in kids are viral & improve within 72hrs. If not below 101 by 72hrs, or if having other worrisome symptoms, then seek care. Children under 3months old should be seen for any temp over 100.4. Reserving meds for higher fevers or feeling ill is good practice. Febrile seizures are rare at 9yrs old, and fever meds won't prevent seizures anyway. Hope she feels better soon. She probably will. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Fever/antibiotics: Antibiotics may take 2-3 days for the infection to get bacterial infectionunder control times. Fever is normal body mechanism to fight infections.Temperatue rise helps the body to fight infections. Temp of under 100 is not considered fever, adn is is already lower. Jsut wait it out, if the child is feeling better than before. ...Read more
3rd old fever not going down after 50 min of tylenol (acetaminophen). How long usually take for med to work?
Should be OK: 50 minutes is sufficient time for tylenol (acetaminophen) to begin to reduce a child's fever if it is going to do so. The question is whether this is really necessary? Is the baby uncomfortable from the fever itself, or is it you who feels uncomfortable having a child with fever. Fever, if tolerable, may be beneficial in the management of infection by our immune system. ...Read more

4 year old has fever of 105.3 in ear. Started yesterday. Giving 1.5 tsp motrin every 6 hrs. Can i give it more often & when should he go to er?
I have a 6 y.o. grandaughter whos fever soared to 103.9 then disappeared after given a dose of child's tylenol (acetaminophen) which she threw up, what gives?
Pretty common: Fevers with viruses go up & down on their own pattern whether you give meds or not. If they have been retained for about 30-45 minutes, you might see a degree change if the temp were sustained. If it dropped precipitously it wasn't the meds. They need hydration more than fever treatment, since fever can stimulate their system & help them heal. I prefer Ibuprofen since it lasts longer ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
