Not today: If your child is running around today, perks up with a dose of ibuprofen, it doesn't sound like ER visit material. It's not the fever itself that we worry about in a child, rather how the child is acting and how their behavior responds to the fever medicine. Fever itself isn't damaging in and of itself. Get checked out now: Severe headache, neck pain & vomiting can be caused by anything from a migraine to bleeding, tumor or infection in the brain. An exam, some testing, and more detailed questions will help find the cause. Even if it is "just" dehydration, after two days it will likely need prescription medication and IV fluids to get it under control, so i would head over to a nearby urgent care or er now. ...Read more

Sounds viral: The fever, chills, headache can be flu symptoms. One thing to consider is mononucleosis which is also a viral infection. Worsening of the sore throat associated with swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, and pain in the stomach area may further suggest mono. Control the fever and encourage fluid intake . If your wife is not better in two days you should get her to a doctor for evaluation. ...Read more
