May be influenza: Although not the season for the flu, the description of the symptoms are fairly typical for viral infection. Assuming that you are otherwise healthy and not exposed to other infectious agents or traveled outside of the US recently, these symptoms usually will pass in a week. Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids, take tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever and aches and stay in bed. If anything gets worse, see your MD ...Read more
My 15 year old son has had a headache and a fever of 100-101 for 2 days, body aches, chills and looks fatigued no other health issues?
Probable influenza: Yes, this certainly could be the 'flu' because u may have 'muted' your fever with over the counter 'cold' medicines that contain tylenol (acetaminophen) or aspirin/NSAIDs like motrin. It's flu season now in the Northern hemisphere and we doctors like to say "common things are common". So I would start with a flu swab-which should tell u very quickly if u have the flu, then give u antivirals to help. Call ur doc! ...Read more
I've had headaches for last week or so, constant fatigue, body aches (had aches often before), lower back pain (right side), pelvic pain, no fever?
Husband has fever hovering in 100-100.5 range, itchy not sore throat, no drainage, no headache but some body ache fatigue. Is this the flu?
May or may not be: The way I treat people is if in doubt and there's no real big detriment to treatment, and most of all if that person benefits from a treatment, I would treat it. Of course, if you go to the er or urgent care, they may be able to do a quick test for the flu and tell you. ...Read more
Stopped taking Excedrin and quit drinking coffee an have had ongoing headaches and body aches lethargy are flu-like. How long will this last?
Caffeine withdrawal: It sounds as if you're withdrawing from caffeine, which is in both Excedrin and coffee. The headaches can last 48 hours, and the other symptoms (body aches, nausea, sometimes dysphoria, mental fogginess, etc) can last 2-3 days to a week depending on how much caffeine you're accustomed to taking/day. You should come back to center from there, though. Good luck. ...Read more

Viral cold, probably: The symptoms you describe are most probably a viral respiratory infection, even the real flu (influenza). See a physician, to make sure it is not anything more serious. I'm sick, had a fever 100.9 but went back down today, & a slight headache with body aches. My neck hurts & wants massage. Do I have meningitis?
Viral infection: I doubt you have meningitis unless your neck is so stiff that you can't move it. The fact that you're able to type this question also argues against meningitis. But if your fever worsens, if you feel sicker, get inordinately drowsy/somnolent, or if the symptoms accelerate in the next 24-48 hours, get checked out at an ER or by a doctor. In the mean time, drink plenty of water & take care. ...Read more

Sounds like flu: The test for flu is not very reliable. The CDC reports it is 40-70% sensitive, which means that a negative tests are falsely negative in 30-60% cases. Most clinicians report that the test is negative in ~50% of patients with clinical symptoms consistent with flu.
