Why do I get 99.5 fever every evening?

Normal: Body temperatures change through the day, from very low 96.5 f in the wee hours of the morning to 99.9 f in the late afternoon to evening. This diurnal curve is the mirror image of your normal corticosteroid levels which are highest in the am and lowest in the pm. This is quite normal and you were astute to recognize and learn about this. ...Read more

I have low fever of 99.4-99.8 every evening. My ultrasound showed "enlarged & heterogeneous thyroid". What is this? Can there be a fever with thyroidi

Thyroid: A fever with a thyroid is unlikely. An enlarged heterogeneous thyroid will almost certainly require removal of a thyroid and maybe even more.
Sounds awful, but when the thyroid glands are controlled you will most likely get thyroid medicines to take without difficulty. ...Read more

See doctor: The absence of fever, the normal appetite and bowel movements are good news. Please take your child to a doctor as the duration of symptoms suggest that this is not likely to spontaneously resolve. ...Read more

I seem to have a fever every morning. Why is this happening?

I seem to have a fever every morning. Why is this happening?

Hard to diagnose: Fuo: fevers of unknown origins are very difficult to diagnose. A general physical is a must, a medical history must be evaluated. Are you using any medications: sedatives? Alcohol? Have you travelled out of the country in the recent past (parasitic infection?) these are the types of things that need to be evaluated. Specialists should be consulted with. Fevers usually are infection related. ...Read more

I am suffering from fever every day exactly in the afternoon time since 3 days with body pains. Please suggest me what kind of fever is this?

Relapsing fever..: It has only been 3 days and this may simply be viral illness such as flu. But relapsing fever with headaches and body/joint aches is cause by certain bacterial species borrelia spirochetes (tick-born carried by certain rodents or louse-born carried by body louse). If your symptoms are getting worse or not better in a couple of more days, consult doc for eval. Motrin/tylenol may help. Good luck. ...Read more

Periodic fever: Children and adolescents with a few consecutive days of fever every month for many months, say at least 6, may not have a series of viruses, but a periodic fever syndrome. My four year old has had a fever every afternoon for the past 5 days--what is wrong?

Define fever: The normal variation in temperature follows a predictable pattern. Usually it is at its lowest around 4-6am and its highest at 4-6pm. (about a degree below or above average)if the kid's temp does not exceed 100, I wouldn't consider it fever. If it is >102 but present only in the afternoon with no other symptoms, it is likely something minor (viral) that should end in a day or two. If worried get seen. ...Read more

My dd is 16 months she gets sick very often almost every month or three weeks she gets fever or cold. My ped says its normal. Is it???

Yep: Pretty normal. The average child gets anywhere from 5-8 upper respiratory infections per year in the first three years of life. They get more if they are in day care or if they are in a household with smokers. Interestingly, children in households with pets get fewer upper respiratory infections. Some folks call them "snot nosed kids" for a reason. It's because it's true. ...Read more
