Is an efw via ultrasound of 3lb 9-10oz large for a 30w3d fetus? How accurate is this weight? Edd was confirmed by multiple early ultrasounds.

On track: That weight is on track for that age. For the 3rd trimester, your baby is fully formed and now just gaining weight and developing lung strength, etc. Baby will gain about 1/4 to 1/2 pound a week from here on. ...Read more

Yesterday they did a us it show 5wk gestation sac no fetal pole my big is 4446.2 when did i concieve what's my due date i need serious help please?

Follow up with OB: Another us is indicated to see if this is a viable pregnancy in 7-10 days. Based on the ultrasound date the edd would be 09/13/2013. Based on a 28 day cycle conception would have occurred approximately 01/07/2013. ...Read more

In 12 wk u/s margin of error is 1 wk. Is this error on the due date or error on fetus measurements? Don't fetuses grow at same rate in 1st trim?

Both: When measuring such small dimensions with shadows, the test is going to use a range. When they say 1 week, it is plus or minus a week. As the pregnancy moves further along, the accuracy will improve as they have more baby to measure & features to study. ...Read more

I had my first u/s 7 weeks 4 days with a 144 hb. I'm concerned because the amniotic sac looked 4-5 times larger than the fetus. Is this normal?

Yes: The gestational sac should be significantly larger than the fetus at this point. If the fetal size is ok, the heart beat is normal, don't stress! ...Read more

I had my 1st u/s done on 6/25/12 & i was 9 weeks & 6 days given a due date of 1/22/13, not sure of my lmp. After 6wks the fetus double in size?

I had my 1st u/s done on 6/25/12 & i was 9 weeks & 6 days given a due date of 1/22/13, not sure of my lmp. After 6wks the fetus double in size?

May 1st conception: Usually when people ask this question, they're interested in when conception happened. Based on the ultrasound due date, the conception was somewhere between april 24th and may 8th. The lmp may vary from woman to woman but with a normal 28 day cycle, it would have been april 17th. ...Read more

U/s on 1/20/14 gave measurement of 11w4d measuring the fetus at 4.8 cm. Could 11/25/13 be conception date? What is the accurate conception date?

U/s on 1/20/14 gave measurement of 11w4d measuring the fetus at 4.8 cm. Could 11/25/13 be conception date? What is the accurate conception date?

11/14/13: Based on the information you provided, the 'average' date of conception would be appx 11/14/13. While 11/25 could be the conception date, it's highly unlikely. Most first trimester ultrasounds are the most accurate ultrasound we have for dating a pregnancy. Typically standard deviation of error is +/- 5 days. Which would be as early as 11/9 or as late as 11/19. Thus, 11/25 is an outlier. ...Read more

Dr told me on 4/24 that my baby was measuring 7w/5d fetal age fr the u/s and gave me a DD of 12/7. Shouldn't my due date be 30w/1d fr 4/24?

Dr told me on 4/24 that my baby was measuring 7w/5d fetal age fr the u/s and gave me a DD of 12/7. Shouldn't my due date be 30w/1d fr 4/24?

Calculating length: 40 weeks is the length attributed to pregnancy. This is'counted' from the first day of your last menstrual period. If you were 7 and 5/7 on 4/24 then 30 and1/7 makes you just shy of 38 weeks, not 40 weeks. ...Read more

Would there be a (big) difference in the measurement if a 12wk old fetus compared to a 9wk old fetus? The gestational age would be determined in u/s?

Would there be a (big) difference in the measurement if a 12wk old fetus compared to a 9wk old fetus? The gestational age would be determined in u/s?

Yes: An first trimester sonogram is fairly accurate at dating a pregnancy (within a margin of error of about a week). At 12 weeks menstrual age with a viable pregnancy a sonogram measurement of 9 weeks would change the dating of the pregnancy and your due date should be based on that sonogram. Later sonograms should not change this established date. ...Read more

How to increase fetus weight?

How to increase fetus weight?

Healthy diet.: Human fetal growth relies on many factors, most of which are not modifiable (e.g. Genetic material, placental function). Some others are, namely healthy diet, avoidance of smoking cigarettes and euglycemia. The curve attached shows how the human fetus grows exponentially near the end of the pregnancy - so another thing you can do to help your fetus grow is to avoid stress and reach your due date. ...Read more

Is there a big difference between 11 week and 13 week fetus?

Is there a big difference between 11 week and 13 week fetus?

Yes and No: The development of the embryo (it's an embryo until the 2nd trimester, when it becomes a fetus), is on a continuum. While there are differences in organ development between 11-13w, more important difference is between 37-39 weeks. It's important to establish due date in first trimester. Management decisions at 11-13w aren't as crucial as they become at 37-40 weeks. 11-13w woman do NT screen ...Read more
