Fatty liver NASH wilson's disease, tell me more?

Fatty liver NASH wilson's disease, tell me more?

Confusion: Clinically and under the microscope, wilson's (rare) can look treacherously like alcoholic liver disease or non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (nash, very common). In fact, even weighing the copper in the liver can be misleading because the biopsy may be regenerative nodules. A urinary copper check is part of my preferred workup, and consider a genetic check. ...Read more

Does high bilirubin level indicate liver disease?

Could liver function tests reveal autoimmune hepatitis?

Yes: Liver function tests are often elevated in autoimmune hepatitis. This is a non- specific test. If the liver function tests are elevated additional diagnostic tests will be necessary. Ferritin high 425 ug/l but iron & UIBC normal - has fatty liver disease - could this be hemochromatosis or is it the inflammation from liver disease?

Ferritin high 425 ug/l but iron & UIBC normal - has fatty liver disease - could this be hemochromatosis or is it the inflammation from liver disease?

Both: a ferritin level above 300 in a male usually indicates iron overload from hemochromatosis. It is also high in other causes of liver inflammation so more specific testing is necessary to differentiate hemochromatosis from others. Genetic testing, imaging, and biopsy are options ...Read more

Ace levels high, liver enzymes high, possible sarcoidosis dx, can sarcoidosis cause fatty liver on ultrasound. Dr scheduling liver& lymph biopsy.

Sarcoidosis - Liver: The most common radiographic finding of hepatic sarcoidosis is hepatomegaly. Ultrasound can show diffuse increased homogeneous or heterogeneous echogenicity in hepatic sarcoidosis appearing similar to fatty liver. Focal liver nodules (thought to represent coalescence of small granulomas) can also be seen in hepatic sarcoidosis. Liver involvement by sarcoidosis typically responds well to steroids. ...Read more

Ferritinin 800, iron 167. And macrocytic anemia. Liver , kidney, wbc, platelets, neutrophil, B12 normal. Why? Is it preleukemia?

At least 2 problems: You realize that we can't diagnose you. With the very high serum ferritin and up-there serum iron, assuming the blood was not drawn during an acute illness, you have hemochromatosis until proved otherwise. How anemic you are, whether this is real macrocytosis, what your physical findings and other labs are are best known to your hematology consultation. Hope nobody gave you iron supplements. ...Read more

Ferritin (Definition)

Ferritin is protein complex that binds iron and controls iron levels inside all of our cells. Low levels in the serum is a useful marker of iron deficiency. Macrophages are cells that contain large amounts of ferritin, and this that helps them scavenge RBC at sites of old hemorrhage. High serum ferritin levels occurs from macrophage activation and is a ...Read more
