Is it ok to give my 39 day baby fenistil dropps and for how long becausd she don't sleep at all?

No: Babies that age are programmed to breast feed about every 2-3 hours, or formula feed every 3-4 hours. Don't expect to get much sleep during the first 3-4, months or so. Encourage Dad to help change and feed by pumping breast milk for night-time use. No reason for both of you to be exhausted. Sorry--it just comes with the territory. Make sure they are fed, dry, and comfortable. NO MEDS needed! ...Read more

My baby is 2 months old and he has cold. Is it ok to give him fenistil drops?

My baby is 2 months old and he has cold. Is it ok to give him fenistil drops?

No: We don't use cold medications or antihistamines (like Fenistil) in young babies. For moderate (or worse) symptoms in a 2 month-old such as coughing, crying, or runny nose, the baby's doctor or the emergency room needs to see the baby. Two months is very young, and such babies need to have their illnesses evaluated unless symptoms are very mild. If very mild, one can talk with the doctor by phone. ...Read more

My 11 month baby had cold before 2 days n still hav runy nose the doctor gave her 9 drops of fenistil twice daily for 5 days is it safe to give her?

Unnecessary: In the US we believe the use of such antihistamine products in infants is often unnecessary and potentially harmful. While possibly safe, one effect is thickening secretions/drainage. This can lead to narrowing of their nasal airway and more work of breathing. I haven't used such products in that age for decades. It does give you something to do, which is the only value some see in it. ...Read more
