Upper Leg Pain (Definition)

Before answering this question, it would be better to define what exactly is meant by the term "upper leg". Orthopaedic surgeons (and others) typically use the term "thigh" to mean the area between the hip and the knee. They use the term "leg" to mean the area between the knee and the ankle. Thus, it is important to specify whether we are discussing pain just below the hip or ...Read more

Hip pain from injury that won't go away after 5 weeks. Now causing low back pain, inner thigh pain by groin, and buttocks pain. What can I do?

Sacroiliac ligament: Sounds like you are having referred pain from sacroiliac (SI) dysfunction. Would be good to be evaluated for this by your family doctor. Best treatment is a small injection of anesthesia and steroid into the specific area of the SI ligament. Depending on injury, could also be a hop labral tear that can give same symptoms. You need to be evaluated in person. ...Read more

Possible: I would not be surprised if you continued to have these symptoms just 2 weeks after this procedure. However, you really should check with the orthopedist who did the procedure to determine what the typical recovery period should be and what you should expect. ...Read more

Had a 40 mg injection of depo nesolone just over a week ago for pain in lower back hip groin and down leg eased slightly but hip and lower back still?

I do not: Recognize ""nesalone" but am assuming it was a dose of a cortisone-like medication which often helps reduce the inflammation associated with a HERNIATED DISC. Another injection or some ORAL steroids may be the next step. The fact that it appears to be helping is a "good sign"
Hope this helps!

Probable hip problem: The distribution of discomfort you describe could be a problem with your hip or back. As your discomfort goes to the groin it makes the hip the more likely offender. Avoid heavy lifting or pulling and do not stand for long periods ...Read more

Hard to say: If you sustained an injury, then yes, soft tissue damage is likely, involving ligaments or tendons. If this came about without injury, then there could be a space-occupying lesion. See your primary care physician for further evaluation, awaiting the ortho consult. An MRI may be warranted. ...Read more
