Need more info: Chest pain has a long list of causes, from musculoskeletal pain, pleurisy (inflammation on lung lining) and shingles to pulmonary embolism, pneumonia and more life threatening causes. Having no other symptoms makes this less scary though. Is it worse when inhaling? Do you smoke or recent injury? Likely nothing, treat with ibuprofen and if new symptoms/lasts longer than three days see your doc. ...Read more

R/O PLEURITIS : PLEURITIS=inflammation of the lining of the lung and Pericarditis = inflammation of the lining of the heart can both cause referred shoulder pain. If labs X-ray and EKG are normal a course of prednisone may be needed. Please seek prompt medical attention for diagnosis and treatment options.
