Not sure: You say you aren't pregnant but are experiencing painless tightenings in the belly similar to braxton hicks contractions. Since most of what is in your belly is intestines i wonder if this is a more pronounced than usual movement in the intestines. May be normal: Braxton-hicks contractions are common and can occur throughout pregnancy. Usually they are irregular and as you note painless. However, especially later on, some pain can be felt.
