Yes: Er eval is a good idea. You have chest pain and left arm symptoms radiating from the neck, these could represent angina, which means an impaired blood supply to the heart muscle from the coronary arteries. Stroke or MS: Sudden weakness & numbness is worrisome for stroke. Think fast: face, arms, speech & time. Obviously someone didn't think that you're having a stroke. Multiple sclerosis comes to mind in young caucasian females especially those living in northern latitudes. But the best person to answer your question is the doc who ordered the test! Pain in arm or neck: Not likely to get pain in the arm or neck from a brain tumor without having signs of brain stem dysfunction. There are other conditions that need to be considered. Chiari malformation can produce tingling in neck and shoulders with headaches. You might have a couple of unrelated problems producing a confusing clinical picture. (separate neck and ear problem). Tough to say: Without a good history and Physical exam, especially at 20yo, it is tough to say what your problem was caused by. Generally, numbness and weakness are caused by some nerve issues, and or possible underluying blood flow (vascular) issues that would affect your nerves (similar to pins and needles after sitting on your legs too long). Rt Arm Pain & Weak: Sometimes pathology in your neck can cause symptoms like this out of the blue (disc bulges or protrusions). Stenosis (narrowing around the nerves) can do this but usually see this in much older patients. Nerves that appear to be involved in your hand are C6, C7, & C8. If you meant shoulder joint down, then C5 may be an issue too. UCC or ER can prescribe Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack. See if arm gets going. ...Read more
