Due to Metformin: Try decreasing the dose of metformin and take it only after meals. You probably are taking 1500 mg which is a hefty dose- never heard of 15 mg? Ask your doctor to try less metformin with adding a second class of medicine if need be to control your diabetes. ...Read more

Smelly pee, constipation, bloating/full feeling, cramping in lower abdomen, some blood in stool, peeing for a long time. What could this all be?

Need to evaluate: Blood in stool needs to be investigated. It may be as simple as hemorrhoids, however, even that can cause anemia. For your smelly pee, try drinking enough water so that your urine is watery, i.e., colorless. It would be prudent to consult a doctor. ...Read more

Hello.: Hello. I will try to be as helpful as I can but I can’t diagnose your symptoms. We can go through possible symptoms of problems with the gallbladder or pancreas.
Cholecystitis begins as intermittent pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. Overtime the pain worsens and becomes constant. The pain can also be referred to the shoulder blade in the back. It usually increases after eating fatty or greasy foods. Other symptoms can include a mild fever, tenderness or enlargement of the gallbladder, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.
Gall stones may cause no symptoms in some people. It can cause cramping pain in the right upper abdominal quadrant and in the upper abdominal midline if a large gallstone obstructs the common bile duct or the cystic duct. This pain can become constant and can also be referred to just below the shoulder blade. This can be accompanied by a fever, nausea, vomiting, light or clay colored feces, and yellow color of the eyes or skin.
There are many different types of diseases of the liver. These can include: hepatitis, too much iron or too much copper deposited in the liver, fatty liver disease and viruses just to skim the surface.
Acute pancreatitis can cause upper abdominal pain that radiates to the back and worsens after eating fatty foods. It can be associated with nausea, vomiting, fever and abdominal tenderness and swelling. Chronic pancreatitis has similar symptoms and can be accompanied by weight loss and extremely severe pain.
I have only touched the tip of the ice berg. Gastroenterologists are experts in this area and the best place to fine tune this type of diagnosis. ...Read more

Not sure if related but had gallbladder out 2 years ago and getting pain in liver area. Feeling of fullness near liver. Hurts when bend to the side?

Good thought: It could be related but usually complications are pretty soon after surgery, not years. It could be a hernia from one of the incisions as well. Having someone look at it and possibly an ultrasound of the liver area might be a good start. This far out, however, it is more likely to be unrelated. ...Read more

When I lay on my stomach I have a feeling of fullness on my left side. I also experience pain during sex. Should I be concerned?

Not Serious: The fullness that you experience while laying on your stomach is unlikely to signify anything significant; it likely relates to the pressure you put on your abdomen when you lay on it; I don't think the pain during sex has any relationship to it and you might want to check this with your PCP ...Read more

I have had my gallbladder removed a year ago and im still getting a feeling of fullness/pain there I do drink alcohol a lot could this be fatty liver?

Gall bladder removal: Your fullness in your stomach may not have anything to do with your gall bladder removal and everything with your heavy drinking. You may have a gastritis of your stomach from the irritation from drinking. Stop the drinking to see if you will get better. Your stomach may take one or two weeks to heal. Add over the counter Prilosec which will help the healing process. ...Read more
